The Center’s YPC endeavors to advance The Center’s twin goals of promoting LGBT health/wellness and human rights, and fosters a culture of diversity, service, leadership, advocacy, and camaraderie among LGBTQ and allied San Diegans.
YPC Academy: Realizing the deep need to develop and empower the next generation of young LGBTQ people and their allies, the YPC Academy was created in 2012 aimed at expanding the ranks of young LGBTQ leaders that are ready to broaden their leadership in the LGBTQ justice movement by enhancing their skillset and network, with the goal of activating them to grow in position of influence through movement building, community and civic board service, and elected office. During the 6-session Academy, participants hear from elected officials, social justice and community leaders, and other topic experts who will help participants expand their leadership, networking, communications, fundraising, and social justice skills with the goal of activating them to grow into positions of influence through movement building, board service, and elected office. Approximately 20 participants are selected each year to participate in the program.
