Our Volunteer Program is currently suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we hope to welcome volunteers back soon. Interested applicants may still apply so that you are ready to volunteer when activities resume!
Due to the sensitive nature of our programs and services, there is a process to apply and be accepted as a Center volunteer. The process takes on average 2-4 weeks.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Fill out the Volunteer Application Form
- Register to attend a 2-hour volunteer orientation
- Complete a Background Check: Because of the sensitive nature of some of our work, The Center requires all volunteers to complete a fingerprint check and clearance of Megan’s Law before being placed. The Center covers the cost of fingerprinting. After attending orientation and completing the background check, individuals are welcomed as new Center volunteers and can begin getting involved!
University Service Hours: Individuals seeking to complete their required university service hours (typically 50-200 hours) should set up an appointment with our Volunteer Services Director at before completing the on-line volunteer application, in order to review university service requirements and to ensure that the volunteer opportunities at The Center are a good fit.
Groups: Organized groups (employee groups, university-based groups, social groups, etc.) seeking group volunteer opportunities are welcome. Please contact our Volunteer Services Director at to discuss the application process.
Due to limited staffing, we are unable to accept applicants seeking to complete Court Ordered Community Service.
Do you want to make a real difference in your community? Volunteer at The Center! There are many ways to get involved! We are constantly developing new volunteer activities and below are some examples of ways that volunteers contribute to support our community.
AIDS Walk & Run San Diego
The annual AIDS Walk & Run San Diego is the largest one-day HIV/AIDS fundraiser in San Diego and takes place on the last Saturday of September. Funds raised during this event support multiple organizations involved in eradicating HIV/AIDS. Volunteers are needed from June to October every year to prepare for The Walk, help with administrative tasks and outreach campaigns, and to support a successful event.

Instructions for logging in hours
All volunteers must log their Volunteer Hours. The Center’s programs, services, and events are made possible by the vital assistance of our volunteers, and many of our programs are grant-funded with requirements to report the number of volunteers and volunteer service hours each month.
Simply go to www.myvolunteerpage.com and log into your account to log your hours. Find instructions here.
If you experience any difficulties, please contact Charles Enciso at email@example.com.
